The dessert that our "Grandma Duck" Laura does best is the "Grandma's Cake" but to tell the truth also all those that she offers for breakfast every morning... a rotation of chocolate cake, tarts with jams of different flavors, apple pie , plum cake, paradise cake, Romagna donut and so on... We start with the classic shortcrust pastry with flour, sugar, eggs and butter. Once the pastry has been prepared, focus on the custard. Boil 1 litre. of milk with the grated zest of a lemon. Bring to the boil and remove from heat. In another pan, combine 6 egg yolks, 120 gr. of sugar and 50 gr. of flour, beat them with a whisk and then add the mixture to the previous one, bring everything back to the heat and boil until it thickens, taking care not to create lumps. At the end add 20 gr. of butter. Once ready, spread the mixture into the shortcrust pastry, previously rolled out and placed in a cake tin. Then cover the cream with other shortcrust pastry rolled out with a rolling pin to a thickness of 2/3 millimetres. Bake in the oven at 180° for 30 minutes... a great cake will emerge... dust with icing sugar. If you want, add the typical pine nuts before baking. Mouth-watering!!!!
